These past weeks of election coverage have been really interesting to take part in. When I started, i was looking at the proposals made by each candidate and they all seemed , at least by Canadian standards, left of center. Sauve was obviously left but the other two were left leaning. As this election has gone on, Projet has become more left. Meanwhile, Mme Martinez Ferrada, who seems poised to win this election, stopped doing the "Liberal Special" of campaigning to the left with the intention of governing to the right. Instead, she started seeming more and more centre-right, talking about less government in our business and lowering bureaucracy. Her embrace of AI seems less like a fundamental belief, but more Mark Carney coded. Is it because she thinks it's right? Maybe. Is it because she thinks she can win with the same tactics as Mark Carney in a city that voted overwhelmingly for his liberal government? Yes, definitely.
Sohere i am, eating humble pie. My original analysis was definitely wrong about where the parties stood on the left/right scale .
I hope you like my journalism, and it would mean the world if you supported my work!
