I would love to see some action from those in power. Here in Longueuil, a 15 year old was killed. Today a short press conference and vigil was held as a month has passed , with barely any acknowledgement from the city and the institutions of power. As I spoke to people within the community there is anger and rage for how it has been treated, children have been traumatized, and what has been heard from those on high? Almost nothing.
While the community reels, there has been virtually no comment from the mayor, Catherine Fournier, and her campaign for re-election hasn't connected with those who are struggling. The BEI haven't mumbled a word about their investigation. The nurses and clinics in the area are thinking of filing a complaint against the police because of how the kids are struggling. The school has not spoken out about this.
So, as one month is now gone by, what will be the response from the city? Who will speak about what has occurred? And will change come?
